It was the source of livelihood, draught power and a symbol of wealth and social status.

Cattle, called Nor, refers to wealth. That was a long time ago.

As vehicles replace horses, imported dairy products replace cows and tillers replace bulls, the all-important animal has now become a nuisance in the capital.
