Road: The first package of blacktopping the Dungna gewog connectivity (GC) road in Chukha has been completed.

About nine kilometers (km) from Ganglakha, on the Phuentsholing-Thimphu highway until the bypass road in Taguna has been blacktopped.

The executive engineer with the Department of Roads (DoR) in Phuentsholing, E N Chhetri said that the 44km GC road would be done in different packages.

The other package that starts from 15km point at Kungkha and close at 21 km until Chongaykha is in progress these days.

Meanwhile, the drain works for the six km bypass road is also in progress, the DoR officials said. It is expected to complete by the end of this month.

The tenders for the package of blacktopping six KM bypass road and another package from 21km to 36km would be opened within this month. The remaining eight km would also be subsequently tendered out.

Government is funding about Nu 135 million to blacktop 44km Dungna GC road. The blacktop works is scheduled to complete by the next financial year.

At present the road condition from Ganglakha to Dungna is such that only Bolero pick-ups could ply. There is also another 20km stretch from Dungna that connects Metakha gewog, which needs blacktopping.
