The club would represent Bhutan in the upcoming AFC Presidents Cup
Yeedzin FC won the 2012 Coca Cola Bhutan National Football league Championship after beating Drukpol FC (2-1) at the finals yesterday in Changlimithang Stadium.
Drukpol FC’s striker Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck scored their first goal in 25 minutes only to be equalised by Yeedzin’s striker Mindu in the 38th minute.
Yeedzin came back strong in the second half by scoring another goal at the 88th minutes.
At the end of the game, Yeedzin FC was declared Champions with 26 points, while Drukpol FC scored 18 points. Ugyen Academy FC came third with 17 points.
Bhutan Football Federation officials awarded the winner Nu 400,000 while, Drukpol took home Nu 200,000 and Ugyen Academy FC received Nu 100,000.
The Coca Cola Fair Play award was given to Samtse FC.
Federation official Sonam Jigme said Yeedzin FC would represent Bhutan in the up coming AFC Presidents Cup in May this year, the venue for which is yet to be finalised.
Final rounds for other matches were played yesterday. Samtse FC lost to Ugyen Academy FC (1-2) in Samtse, while Zimdra FC won against Phuentsholing FC at the Changlimithang Stadium (6-0.)
The second edition of the Coca Cola Bhutan National League 2013 would kick off from May this year. “BFF intends to take in more dzongkhag clubs annually as our main objective is to spread the beautiful game of football in all 20 dzongkhags,” Sonam Jigme said.
Tashi Beverages Limited, Druk Air, Zimdra Food Pvt Limited and Samden Group also supported the league.
