Lightning strikes Yonphula airport

At around 1:50pm yesterday, Yonphula airport in Kanglung was struck by lightning causing damage at the airport apron (area where aircrafts are parked).

However, airport officials said that no major damage was caused and the incident won’t affect flight operations. Officials said that rectification work at the apron would be carried out soon including the clearing of debris from the runway.  Meanwhile, owing to bad weather, the flight to the airport was cancelled yesterday.
